SILPro® for HAZOP, LOPA and SIL Verification studies
Salient Features
SILPro® is a cloud software developed by Process Safety and Functional Safety experts for HAZOP, SIL Assessment (with LOPA methodology) and SIL Verification studies.
The HAZOP and LOPA Projects can be accessed from anywhere, anytime using a conventional internet browser. Two or more users can log into the same project simultaneously, for example a facilitator and scribe can work together (with two licenses).
HAZOP is connected/linked with LOPA for automated transfer of high risk Hazard scenarios, resulting in greater accuracy by minimizing human errors, it also reduces the team effort and screening time.
Intra and Inter project transfer of Node information (deviation, cause, consequence and safeguards) to improve efficiency of the studies
A consequence appearing in several high risk hazard scenarios across the Hazop can be referenced to have a single impact event in LOPA with corresponding multiple causes and their safeguards. Appropriate safeguards can be selected as Protection Layers.
SILPro® provides Hazop studies to set Alarm priorities and identify safety critical equipments and tasks.
SILPro® has a comprehensive data-base of Initiating Event frequencies and failure rates for protection layers. SILPro® has the flexibility to customize the data-base with client specific data and user values. SILPro® can be accessed from anywhere, using conventional web browsers.
A risk assessment can be done using a risk matrix. Clients can develop customized risk matrices in SILPro®. A 10x10 grid for severity and Probability for risk of Human injury or Damage to property or Environmental damage or loss-of-reputation is available with a flexible use of colours and risk ranking for grid boxes.
SILPro® generates comprehensive Hazop and LOPA reports in editable word format. The Hazop reports have Alarm List, Safety Critical Equipment and tasks list, Hazop worksheets and action items, Hazop action items for LOPA, Node list etc etc. The LOPA report has the SRS sheets with pre-filled target SIL and PFDavg
SILPro® has available a list of Smart Hazop and LOPA scenarios, to improve the robustness and speed of the studies. These smart scenarios are a compilation of common hazard scenarios for equipments (such as furnaces...) and Technologies (such as SRU...). The brainstorming can further improve the suggested causes and consequences and applicable safeguards
SILPro® is capable of identifying the components of a SIF by linking the SE, LS and FE. The Cause & Effects can be generated in Excel format
Automated transfer of SIFs from SIF data-base to SIL verification module with Target SIL, RRF
SILPro® is capable of calculating Achieved SIL (PFDavg, RRF) of the SIS/SIF vs Target SIL based on the device failure rates (λDU, λDD, λSU, λSD) and parameters: MT, MTTR, PTI, Beta, DC, PTC etc.
SIL Verification can be done for the following architectures: 1oo1, 1oo2, 2oo2,2oo3, 1oo2D, 1oo3, 2oo5, 3oo5.
STL calculations (PFSavg, probability of spurious trip) can be performed on SILPro® for the architectures: 1oo1, 1oo2, 2oo2,2oo3, 1oo2D, 1oo3, 2oo5, 3oo5. This is based on the device failure rates (λSU, λSD, λDU, λDD ) and parameters: MT, MTTR, PTI, Beta, DC, PTC etc.
Licensing
SILPro® is a proprietary software, developed by Umesh Goel (IChemE CEng, TUV FSEng ). USP Energies, a business vertical of USP Trading and Manufacturing Pvt Ltd, has the exclusive rights for sales, marketing and licensing of SILPro®. SILPro® license/s are available on payment of a Yearly license fee and based on per user basis. A single user is defined as a single username and password; additional usernames and passwords will require additional licenses to be procured. Customer support is available through phone and email, On-site support / training is also available on the payment of additional fees/expenses.

FAQ
FAQ: Will HAZOP/LOPA training be provided along with SILPro® license?
USPEnergies: No, HAZOP/LOPA training is not included in the SILPro® license fee. HAZOP/LOPA training can be provided on the payment of additional fees and expenses. Training related to functionality of the SILPro is included in license fee
FAQ: What happens if my internet stops working?
USPEnergies: The last saved version will be available. If you hit save, error message will appear. If the internet connection is restored with-in a short time and you have not hit save in the meanwhile, then the data on screen can be saved and the work can continue.
FAQ: Will SILPro screen the Hazard scenarios to be transferred to LOPA?
USPEnergies: No, the screening of hazard scenarios has to be done by the user. The user can however choose to identify high risk hazard scenarios on the go, during the course of the Hazop and have those available immediately or a later date for LOPA.
FAQ: Do I need to pay additionally for the upgrades?
USPEnergies: No, all updates are free. As it is a cloud software, the updates are available to all users. We will not be able to give you the previous versions/releases.
FAQ: Why is my Report not showing the latest data?
USPEnergies: It is typically due to the data already in the cache memory of your device; it is recommended to cntrl+F5 to remove the cache memory before downloading the report.
FAQ: Why is my report not downloading?
USPEnergies: It may be due to the non-compatibility of your browser with MS-Word which may result in special characters being not recognized and an error in the report. Suggest you to remove any special characters or try with a different browser or cntrl+F5.
FAQ: My device architecture is not available in the SIL verification drop-down list?
USPEnergies: SIL verification in SILPro® can be done currently for the following device architectures: 1oo1, 1oo2, 2oo2,2oo3, 1oo2D, 1oo3, 2oo5, 3oo5. These, we believe are the most common architectures in-use in the industry. If however, your specific architecture is missing, then please send us an email and we will be happy to include that.
FAQ: Can SILPro® do SIL verification?
USPEnergies: Yes, SIL verification of the SIF can be done on SILPro® in order to ascertain that the Achieved SIL meets the Target SIL . The mathematical model is an improved method derived from IEC 61508 and includes an iterative computational process for higher accuracy of the results

USPEnergies: Yes, STL calculations of the SIF can be done on SILPro® in order to ascertain the spurious trip rate of the SIF. The mathematical model includes an iterative computational process for higher accuracy of the results
